Alaska Hunting Professional Guide Services

Greg Stewart
Owner/Outfitter/Registered Guide #228830
Greg always thought of Alaska as the pinnacle of all hunting and adventure. From a young age, it was hunting that introduced him to seeking those adventures. He grew up in Colorado, climbing mountains to chase Elk and Mule Deer, while trying to find places most wouldn’t go. He got his start guiding in Colorado before heading North and for the past 18 years he’s had the opportunity of taking clients on their dream hunts.
With great success, clients have achieved the dream they set out to accomplish with Greg. Whether it’s Sheep, Moose, Brown Bear, or a one of a kind Caribou, he wants it to be the best hunting experience you’ve ever had. Many of his clients have returned year after year in pursuit of all Alaska has to offer.

Daniel “Danny” Wright
Owner/Outfitter/Registered Guide #179114
Danny has been guiding professionally for over 16 years. He began his career in British Columbia, Canada, where he honed his skills in the rugged Peace River Region and the remote Northern Canadian Rockies. There, he led clients on challenging and unforgettable expeditions—on foot and horseback—through some of the wildest terrain in North America.
Four years later, Danny set his sights on Alaska, continuing his pursuit of world-class big game and guiding hunters through the breathtaking Alaska and Chugach Mountain Ranges. His deep commitment to the craft led him to expand operations to Kodiak Island, opening up new territory for Ultimate Alaskan Adventures. Today, he leads hunts for some of the world’s largest Brown Bears and Roosevelt Elk in this legendary landscape.
After 13 years in the Last Frontier, Danny’s dedication to providing hunters with exceptional, high-success experiences in remote and game-rich areas remains as strong as ever.

Mike Dorsey
Guide #7603
Hello I’m Michael Dorsey I fell in love with the outdoors in Nebraska as many young men do when I was a just a boy learning how to set my tent and go on camping and canoeing trips with my father and friends. I spent most of my fall months hunting upland game birds, rabbit, waterfowl, and when I was 12 I started hunting deer and antelope. I’ve been hunting and enjoying the outdoors in Alaska since 1996. I started packing then and didn’t start guiding until 2014. It has been a true joy in my life taking hunters out into the wilds of Alaska from hunting Bear, Moose, Caribou, Sheep, Goat, Sitka Deer, Wolf, Lynx, and Wolverine over the years. Enjoying the sweet taste of success and defeat in the bush, working hard to ensure every hunter has a great experience during their hunt. Every hunt brings new challenges and enjoyment. I look forward to each hunting season with great anticipation and enthusiasm.
Steve Johnson (1964 – 2024)
Founder
A tribute to Ultimate Alaskan Adventures Founder and Master Guide, Steve Johnson.

Steve Johnson’s journey to Alaska began long before he ever set foot in the rugged wilderness he would come to call home. Born and raised in Minnesota, Steve developed a passion for hunting early in life. His adventurous spirit and strong sense of duty led him to serve in the U.S. military—first as a submariner, and later as a Navy Corpsman attached to a specialized Marine Corps Reconnaissance Unit.

In 1988, Steve made his first trip to Alaska to hunt, drawn by the state’s vast wilderness and promise of adventure. From that first experience, a vision began to form—one that would ultimately become Ultimate Alaskan Adventures.

Steve believed that outfitting should be different. It should be client-centered, rooted in integrity, and driven by a relentless pursuit of the once-in-a-lifetime trophies that hunters dream about. He knew that success in Alaska required more than just knowledge—it required character, grit, and a team that shared his values.

To that end, Steve personally handpicked and extensively trained a select group of guides who not only matched his skill but embraced his ethos. Many of those same guides are still with the outfit today, guiding with the same precision and heart that Steve instilled in them.

Over the course of more than 31 years, Steve established and perfected a network of remote lodges, cabins, and designated camps in carefully chosen regions across Alaska—locations still in use to this day. Through his dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment to doing right by his clients, Steve achieved not only impressive success rates, but forged lifelong friendships that brought hunters back year after year.

It was through this three-decade-long pursuit that Steve coined the motto we still stand by: “Reputation, Experience, Results.”

He was a Husband, Father, Brother, Friend, and Mentor. He will be missed.

Us guides that spent countless days and months by Steve in the mountains every season seemed to always try and emulate how he handled every situation; whether the approach he used playing chess with sheep or friendly client interaction by always doing the right thing by them, we came up with a saying.  “What would Johnson do.” This has been secretly said in the minds of all us guides whenever there was question, doubt, or conflict, and it has seemed to always help us prevail. Though we miss him dearly, we carry on—honoring Steve’s legacy with every hunt. We continue to guide in the places he established, follow the principles he lived by, and uphold the standards he set. For the Mentor and friend he was to all of us, we are proud to continue the journey he began and humbly move forward with this outfit, never forgetting its founder, and preserving the Johnson Legacy with every step we take into the wild.

From all of us at Ultimate Alaskan Adventures, we thank you for being part of Steve’s story.
